Medical reports were not written for most patients.

Many people receive lab results, MRI reports, or discharge summaries before they ever speak with their doctor. The information is technically accurate but filled with jargon that creates fear instead of clarity.

Confusing medical jargon

Reports often use clinical terms that were written for doctors, not patients.

Waiting without clarity

You may see results before your doctor has time to explain them, leaving you stuck between information and understanding.

"Dr. Google" anxiety

Searching online can make results sound scarier or more confusing than they really are.

Caregiver overload

Caregivers often have to understand the report, explain it to family, and decide what questions to ask next.

From confusing report to your next conversation, in four parts.

No account setup marathon. No medical dictionary required.

I stopped Googling everything at midnight. I knew what my mom's scan actually meant before her doctor even called back.

It didn't just define the words. It told me what actually changed since her last scan, which is exactly what I needed to explain to my brother.

My cardiologist's notes might as well have been in another language. DecodeMD gave me the plain-English version in under a minute.

Keith Bell, founder of DecodeMD

Built by someone who knows the fear of reading a medical report alone.

DecodeMD began after founder Keith Bell opened his own MRI report during a prostate cancer experience and felt overwhelmed by the medical language. The confusion was not just frustrating. It was frightening. That experience became the mission behind DecodeMD: help people understand medical information with clarity, compassion, and context.

Before you start, a few honest answers.

Can't I just Google it or ask ChatGPT?

You can, and plenty of people do. The difference is Google and general chatbots explain conditions in the abstract. DecodeMD reads your actual report and explains what your specific results say, tied to the exact language in front of you, not a general search result that may not apply to your situation.

Does this replace my doctor?

No. DecodeMD explains the language in your report so you understand it. Your doctor or care team is still the one who tells you what it means for your treatment and what to do next. Think of it as preparation for that conversation, not a substitute for it.

Who is DecodeMD for?

Patients, caregivers, parents, spouses, advocates, and anyone else trying to understand a loved one's medical report. Most people using it are the ones who suddenly became the family's point person for a diagnosis or a parent's care.

What types of reports can I use?

Lab results, MRI and CT reports, pathology reports, discharge summaries, and clinical notes. If it's text-based medical language, DecodeMD can usually translate it.

Is DecodeMD HIPAA-compliant?

Not yet, and we're upfront about that. HIPAA covers doctors, hospitals, and insurers, not personal apps like ours. Before translating anything, our privacy filter automatically flags text that looks like PHI, such as names, dates of birth, or medical record numbers, so you can remove it first.

Is my medical information private?

Yes. We tell you plainly what's collected, stored, and for how long, and you can delete your account and data at any time. We also recommend removing names and record numbers before uploading anything, as an extra precaution.

What if I only need this once in a while?

That's exactly what the Monthly plan is for. If you expect to use it for ongoing care, like managing a parent's appointments over time, the Annual or Lifetime plans work out cheaper. Cancel anytime, no pressure either way.

Questions before you start?

DecodeMD explains the language in your medical report. It does not diagnose conditions, predict outcomes, or replace your doctor. Always talk with your healthcare professional about what your results mean for you.
